What makes Sircuit Cosmeceuticals products so effective?
One reason is the ingredients with which they are formulated. Sircuit products contain the highest concentrations of effective, active ingredients. Unlike so many products on the market that contain only token amounts of wonderful ingredients, Sircuit products virtually overflow with state-of-the-art ingredients. We're also proud of the ingredients that are missing from Sircuit products. They're free of artificial colors, artificial fragrance and artificial preservatives. The second reason is that Sircuit products are chirally correct. When a skin product's ingredients are chirally correct the ingredients have the ability to link up properly with the skin's receptors and with that perfect link-up of ingredient to receptor, the product can deliver the most effective results possible with the fewest possible adverse reactions. Chirally correct ingredients have the ability to deliver outstanding results - far superior to products containing racemic or non-chirally purified ingredients. The third reason is the way in which Sircuit products are formulated. To deliver the freshest products and avoid the necessity of using artificial preservatives and other "inactive" agents, we make the products in very small batches. They are often cold processed. When "cooking" is necessary we never "overcook" the goodness out of them. And lastly, when developing a product, we leave "price" out of the equation. We believe it is more important to offer only the finest, most effective product than to ensure the product's ability to be priced competitively. An ineffective product is terribly expensive, no matter how little it cost, while a truly effective product is a true bargain, regardless of how much it cost.

What does chirally correct mean?
Further research has shown that chiral compounds and their properties are part of every biochemical process in the human body. They are the root cause of why some products or ingredients work and others do not. Life always favors one hand over the other. Bio-living matter contains an equal number of L and D molecules, yet a characteristic signature of life is that it uses only one hand (the L or the D) to achieve a specific result. When compounds are synthesized in a lab. a 50/50 (racemic) mixture is made, containing both the L and the D - but the body or skin can only benefit by either the L or the D. While the L may be give desired results the D may be causing problems - or visa versa as the case may be. Biology is homochiral: animals are made of proteins containing only L-amino acids, coded for by right handed helical DNA containing only D sugars. In other words, the L-amino acids must link up with the D sugars to give the desired results. When a product is chirally correct, it means that it contains only the molecules with the ability to give the desired results (either the D or the L form).

Why is it so important?
Thalidomide - the notorious drug that caused heartbreaking birth defects in the early 60's, was prescribed as a sedative for pregnant women. When scientists finally resolved the drug in 1979, separating its two "hands", they discovered that only the L form causes fetal deformities, while the D form and the racemic DL form both exhibited equal sedative activity. The drug had always been prescribed in its racemic form, which contained the L molecule responsible for birth defects. If they had chirally purified the drug, by removing the L form, Thalidomide may have been safe.. Although recent studies indicate that this concept may not have been the final answer to the thalidomide problem, (some believe it would not have made a difference)..it is clear that a better understanding of Chiral Technology would have been significant. The bottom line? Important biological compounds exist in 2 mirror image forms and the actions and effects of the twins can be strikingly different when in the presence of other compounds which are themselves chiral, like the human body. This applies equally to compounds intended for internal use and to topicals like skin care. If a product does not take the chirality of its active ingredients into consideration it cannot be effective on a highly evolved, complex biochemical organ like human skin, whose very structure is chiral. To be truly effective, products must be chirally correct. Just as you cannot put your right hand into a left handed glove, your body will not accept a left handed compound to do the job a right handed one is supposed to do, and visa versa. Chiral chemistry sets the rules that determines how or whether ingredients perform as desired or otherwise. While molecules of one hand are necessary to life (e.g. L-amino acids, certain D sugars, etc.) this selectivity means that the molecule of the opposite hand will usually exhibit different effects, ranging from useless to toxic, as in the case of L-thalidomide.

Why is chirally correct better than natural?
To put it simply, chemicals cause stress simply because they are not natural to our skin or body. Chemicals are often not recognized or utilized properly by the skin or the body. An example would be lactic acid. Synthetic lactic acid contains both the D and the L molecule. The body (and skin) only recognizes the L form. Natural lactic acid contains only the L form which is the one the body can use. It's obviously better to use the natural L form - why would you use the form in which one half of the molecules are ineffective? It is the same with vitamin E. Natural vitamin E is D-alpha tocopherol. Synthetic vitamin E is DL alpha tocopherol. The body can only use the D form. With the DL form you have half the molecules that are either worthless or can cause an allergic reaction. Artificial color and artificial fragrances (or flavors in food) are often not recognized by the body. This causes stress to our systems because the body doesn't know how to react to these ingredients and often stores them in an organ or fat. Over years these chemicals can accumulate and reach a toxic level. In short, they pollute our bodies and/or our skin. And think about this - the skin can often absorb these chemicals. Limonene is an active compound in citrus fruits. In nature, limonene always has both left handed (L) and right handed (D) molecules. Natural limonene is DL limonene. Let's compare the different properties & uses of these naturally occurring "twin" molecules: D-limonene (right-handed) is the version used for industrial cleaners & degreasers. It's used as a tire solvent (for recycling tires), it's known to cause allergic reactions, it promotes mutations in human embryos & promotes free radicals. L-limonene (left-handed) suppresses tumor growth (particularly melanoma) & fights free radicals. Would you prefer to have in your skin care - the natural limonene with both the harsh D molecule and therapeutic L molecule, or only the therapeutic D? Those concerned about their skin would prefer only the D-limonene in their products.Chiral technology, makes it possible to give you a product that is better than natural because it separates the molecules allowing us to remove the undesirable molecule and use only the desirable one.

Can I use the X-Trap cleanser to remove eye make-up?
Regarding make-up: We have had a lot of success with the X-Trap cleanser, with make-up / foundation, etc., coming off easily, however some of the mascaras were a little hard to remove. A lot depends on the makeup brand. The X-Trap-Cleanser is a gentle cleanser, so it is not intended to be so stripping. Its intent is to clean, but leave your body's own moisture barrier. Back to Top

Does the Day Care moisturizer have SPF or do I need to use one?
Regarding sun protection: From the New Scientist Magazine (Oct. 7, 2000): Now there is evidence that a substance called octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC) used as a UVB filter in 90% of sun screens worldwide may itself be toxic'. Sircuit Cosmeceuticals never formulates with OMC. We prefer physical sun screens and blocks such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and zirconium oxide which deflect the damaging rays as opposed to chemical blocks (like OMC) which absorb the rays. All SPF products are chemicals, we don't use them. We use Micronized Titanium Dioxide. Although not official, it's roughly the equivalent of about a 15 on the SPF scale. Day Care and White Out are the products that contain sun protection.

Do you have to pay a steep price for a good product?
If you're asking, "do you get what you pay for", then the answer is no. Ingredients and technology determine how good a product will be and unfortunately too many skin care products, regardless of price, are composed of what we call "roses and Vaseline". By that we mean they're comprised of petrolatum (Vaseline), mineral oil, wax, a great fragrance and only token amounts of active ingredients. Use of these products may give you what you believe to be good results because the petrolatum and mineral oil will make the skin feel moist, the wax will coat the skin making it appear smoother and the fragrance makes you feel good. Unfortunately, these ingredients are also clogging the pores, and interfering with the skin's ability to breathe and eliminate - 2 very important functions of the largest organ of our body. If you doubt what I'm saying, just check out the ingredient list of the products in the stores. Recently, I discovered a very elegant cream selling for $450 an ounce. The main ingredients? Petrolatum, mineral oil and waxes, - and lots of fragrance. Another "therapeutic" cream selling for $125 was so loaded with wax, that the only way it would spread was to hold it between my fingers for a few seconds in order to soften it . Of course, the salesperson was quick to tell me that this was a very special treatment cream which was why it couldn't be spread over the face without first holding it between the fingers. Yeah, right. Great marketing story! And for those of you who believe it is possible to purchase an effective product for $12. , think again. Manufacturers are charged a hefty fee to place their products on the shelves in the major stores. They therefore need a substantial markup. That $12 product probably cost no more than $1.50 to make and that's including the packaging, etc. How good could it be? You may even think it to be very good because of all the wonderful herbs it contains. Yes, there are 20 different beneficial herbs listed on the label, and it does contain all those herbs, but not in the way you might think. It contains only a few drops of an infusion of those various herbs. In other words, 20 different herbs were brewed into a "tea" and then a few drops of the "tea" is added to the product formula. If the product is inexpensive, the manufacturer cannot do it any other way.

Can you example any of the ingredients used in the range to explain the benefits of this technology?
We can give you some very good examples of well known ingredients that we have Chirally Corrected that you will find in Sircuit products. We use Chirally Correct Vitamin C in our Sircuit Weapon serum and super fortify it in a compound with other key ingredients to enhance its effectiveness. We also use Chirally Correct Vitamin E, D-Alpha-Tocopherol, which is right-handed and is far more effective than the left-handed version or the racemic combination of L & D. You will find this in X-Trap, Day Care, White Out, Sircuit Addict, Liquid Crystal and Crystal Crème.

The general public is starting to demand results driven skin care rather than just a pampering - what sort of results does this range give? What skin problems can it help?
This is a very good point. The general public has become increasingly aware of what they put in their bodies and what they apply topically and gets absorbed by the skin. Sircuit Cosmeceuticals is more than skin care - it's skin health! This is why we use Cosmeceuticals in our name. Our line is geared towards giving the user the healthiest skin they can possibly have. We've gone beyond the cellular level - we work at the molecular level! Our products are anti-aging, gentle, effective and great for all skin types. Our X-Trap daily cleanser is suitable for people with rosacea and gentle enough for post-laser surgery. Molecular Mist helps inactivate certain acne bacteria. White Out diminishes fine lines, and with optic brightners, lightens the dark under eye circles and puffiness that some people have. Back to Top

What's so bad about Sodium Laurel Sulfate?? It's in everything!
Well, for starters, Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) denatures protein (skin and hair is made up of protein). It is also a mutagen. This means that it is capable of changing the information in genetic material found in cells. It is also an eye irritant. One study to determine the effect of SLS in the eye found that SLS is rapidly taken up and accumulated by eye tissues and retained for up to five days (which is particularly harmful to the developing eyes of young children - and I thought it was just about tears!). It was also found to cause changes in some proteins of eye tissues and it can extend the healing time in injured eyes. SLS can damage the outer layer of skin, causing dryness, roughness, scaliness, fissuring, loss of flexibility and can reduce the barrier function of normal healthy skin. Sodium laurel sulfate is also a comedogenic.

I thought it was interesting that Chiral Technology is starting to be used in other types of medication, maybe you could discuss this in terms of fitting Sircuit into a broader scientific area.
Chiral Technology is key to why our products are so innovative and effective. Primarily, Chiral research is being conducted in the area of drug research. The application of Chiral Technology has revolutionized the pharmaceutical industry and has dramatically changed the way many new drugs are being developed and manufactured. Clinical research has shown significant scientific results, which has led to major new advances in disease prevention and better chiral understanding. 50% of all new drugs in the current pipeline for FDA approval will be "Chirally" correct). Some of the top ten single-entantiomer revolutationary new drugs include Lipitor, Zocor, Paxil, Zoloft, Nexium, among many others. Now using the same technology and research, it has also changed the way skin care products are being developed. Understanding Chiral Technology is the key to understanding why our skin and hair care products are so amazing! This knowledge completely redefines what we should be putting on our skin. It is also why all products that are either ingested or applied topically should be Chirally Correct.....and one day soon, they will be! Type in Chiral Technology in any search engine and check it out for yourself. This technology is so important that the leading science magazine "Chemical & Engineering News" devoted 5 major articles, and cover story in the May 2003 issue on this topic. At Sircuit we understand the impact this technology has on what we apply to our skin - whether it works and whether there will be adverse reactions. One earlier comment is absolutely correct - people are demanding results - as well they should be! It's addictive, once people fully understand the importance of this technology and why it works - they will not be willing to accept anything else!

I noticed you now have trial sets, would these also be suitable for travel?
Absolutely! The containers hold enough product for a week (or more) and fit nicely into a cosmetics or travel bag. It's a great way to take your favorite products on the road, or plane, with you.

What is a comedone?
You may have noticed on labels where it says 'non-comedogenic'. A comodone is a blackhead. Non-comdeogenic ingredients do not promote blackheads. Some typical comedogenic ingredients (ingredients that cause blackheads) found in many products include: isospropyl myristate; isopropyl palmitate; myristyl myristate and the above mentioned sodium lauryl sulfate. Which is why its so important to check your labels.

Why is using X-Trap important?
If you don't cleanse properly, there's no point in doing anything else. Clean skin is the preparation for everything that follows. Using X-Trap as part of your daily regime is key to healthy skin.

What is the difference between moisturizing and hydrating your skin?
Moisturizers are more emollient, creating suppleness in your skin, while hydration replenishes lost moisture due to free radical stress.

Can I use X-Trap if I have sensitive skin?
As a matter of fact, X-Trap is one of the most gentle cleansing aids available and is even suitable for use after laser or micro-dermabrasion procedures. Free of all soaps and detergents, X-Trap thoroughly cleans the skin of all makeup and environmental pollutants without disrupting the natural oil moisture content of the skin.

I have oily skin, why does it need moisture?
Even though your skin is oily, it can still suffer from dehydration. Molecular Mist is very effective at deep cellular hydration without adding extra, unnecessary oil.

What are free radicals?
Free radicals are rogue oxygen molecules that cause cellular degeneration.

Why do these products work when others don't?
Sircuit products are formulated with Chiral Technology, virtually eliminating all irritating side effects and utilizing only the most effective molecules extracted from organic phyto compounds.

I've read about liposomes, what are they?
Liposomes are good, fullerenes are better! Sircuit utilizes fullerenes which are 1-10 million times smaller than lipsomes. Fullerenes are better able to deliver nutrients to your cells at a much deeper level.

Is the Molecular Mist like a toner?
Molecular Mist goes way beyond a toner; it promotes rapid absorption by the skin for deep cellular hydration. Molecular Mist helps reduce skin sensitivity as it calms irritations and burning sensations. It also protects from free radical and environmental stress and helps control acne bacteria.

What is thirsty skin?
Skin that might produce oil, but is dehydrated.

Why does our skin deteriorate as we age and can I do anything about it? All the expensive department store products I've been using really don't seem to work, but I know I should be doing something.
Our skin deteriorates as we age because our natural elasticity diminishes. To create a more supple, firmer texture, Sircuit Addict can be incorporated into your daily routine to encourage a deeper, more hydrated skin tone.

Why does the Molecular Mist work to replace water in my skin? Can't I just take a shower?
Molecular Mist is made of heavy water which is structurally different than regular H2O. It will go directly into your skin's cells to make them plump and happy.

Does using Sircuit replace having facials?
Using Sircuit as your daily, weekly and monthly skin care regime will augment your visits to the facialist and leave you looking better between visits. Nothing replaces the human touch, and it's best to leave extractions to the professionals.

Why should I use a night cream?
While at rest, your skin has a more reparative process. Using Dreamweaver as a night treatment helps regenerate collagen production and the growth of healthy young cells. Dreamweaver helps soothe stressed skin while nourishing and strengthening it.

Do I need to use a separate eye cream even though I use a regular moisturizer?
Yes, because the skin around the eye is thinner, it requires special attention. White Out moisturizes this sensitive area while helping eliminate dark circles as it optically brightens the contours of the eye.

What makes Sir-Activ a better scrub?
We use small particles called zeolytes that are fossilized volcanic material. Not only do they act as mild exfoliators, they are like little sponges that draw toxins and impurities from the skin. Your skin will look and feel smoother after the first use.

When is the best time to use Sir-Activ scrub?
Sir-Activ is helpful in times of stress or exposure to smoke and other environmental pollutants. Also, when coming off any medications, Sir-Activ helps purify the skin of metabolic waste.

Why doesn't the pumpkin mask (love the smell) dry like other masks I've used?
Unlike traditional clay masks, not only does the Youth Accelerator pore refiner mask not dry, but it does not create unnecessary drying in your skin. We suggest leaving it on until it becomes the texture of a fruit roll-up to get the benefits of this enzyme mask rich in vitamin A.

I just love the smell of Sir-Activ. I open the bottle even when I'm not using it so I can get a whiff, why does it have this effect on me?
Sircuit products use no artificial fragrances; this is what fresh smells like! Think of it as organic aromatherapy. Your nose is your body's best monitor, trust it.

I don't get "Suave lather" with the shampoo, why?
Liquid Crystal does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate, which is the surfactant found in many shampoos (and is very harsh). Liquid Crystal will gently cleanse your hair without stripping it of its natural oils, while leaving your scalp feeling fresh and unirritated.

When should I use Youth Accelerator?
Youth Accelerator can be used once a week, but not on a day you use Sir-Activ. It's tempting to use frequently (we all enjoy a skin treat), but once a week will give your skin the vitamins and minerals it needs, while leaving you with a more vibrant complexion.
