Description:

This apartment is located on the boulevard Beaumarchais, on the eastern limit of Le Marais (4th) and very close to the Picasso Museum. The Louvre is 10 minutes away by metro or by bus and the very center of Paris is 5 minutes away. It is only at a five minutes walk distance from the Bastille place, where the Opera de Paris is located. Considered one of the best in the world, it was inaugurated for the 200th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Within a short walking distance is the royal Place des Vosges, the oldest and most beautiful square having been the place of residence of many historic personalities. The areas of Le Marais and Bastille are the liveliest of Paris in the evening, with many restaurants and cafes with music, and open until very late at night.  There are lots of shops around (bakery, supermarket, etc.) and a market of fresh products twice a week.

The apartment is on the third floor of an 18th century walk-up building. The main entrance gate is equipped with a security system (digicode). This building has a nice paved courtyard with plants.

The layout is as followed. The entrance door opens on a little hallway, which leads to the right to the bathroom and straight ahead to the living room. From the living room on the left, a door gives an access to the kitchen. The bedroom is accessible through the living room by a door in an alcove.

The living room has white painted walls and a green and beige tiled floor. The window offers a view on the quiet courtyard. The visible ceiling beams and the mix of contemporary and antique style create a warm atmosphere. It is furnished with a sofa bed, two armchairs, a design coffee table, two antique style cupboards and a contemporary round dark dining table with its two matching chairs. The furniture underlines the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the apartment.

The bedroom has a discreet green wall-to-wall carpet and white painted walls with visible beams, which match with the ceiling beams. The window overlooks the calm courtyard. It is furnished with a double size bed, two bedside tables, a chest of drawers and an armchair. There is also a large built-in closet with sliding mirror doors. This bedroom is pleasant to live in and very quiet.

The kitchen has the same tiled floor as the living room and nice green tiled walls. It is both convenient and stylish in a welcoming spirit. It has a tiled worktop matching with the walls and it is equipped with an oven, a microwave oven, a dishwasher, a refrigerator with a freezer compartment, a coffee maker and a toaster. The cabinets contain the cooking appliances. There is also a laundry machine.

The bathroom is totally tiled, the floor in white with a touch of green and the walls are in delicate matching shades that go from a sky blue to green. It is equipped with a shower closed by a plastic curtain and a washbasin surmounted by a mirror, and a toilet.

Since this apartment is nicely decorated, pleasant to live in and is located in a nice neighbourhood, it is ideal to discover the real Parisian life.

Close to the apartment

Place des Vosges
Place des Vosges, built by Henri IV and completed in 1612, it is known as the most beautiful square in Europe. It is noted for its picturesque streets, boutiques, galleries, and beautifully restored 16th & 18th century "hôtels particuliers". Madam de Seveigne was born at #1 bis, #21 is where Richelieu lived and #6 was Victor Hugo’s residence, now a museum to him

The Bastille
Built around 1370, was once part of the defenses of Paris. Louis XIV had the wall demolished but left the Bastille, which later became a luxury prison for aristocratic and notable people who could have goods and services sent in. The Marquis de Sade was a prisoner here as were Mirabeau and Voltaire. It was stormed on 14 July 1789, but at that time there were only seven prisoners. It was later razed and replaced in 1831 by the column, called the July Column, now standing surmounted by the "Spirit of Liberty". In Place Henri Galli can be found a commemorative pile of stones from the original Bastille.

Rue Vieille-du-Temple and rue St. Croix de la Bretonnerie
With its many cafes, restaurants, clubs, fashion boutiques and “maisons et objects” stores, it is the center of Paris’s vibrant gay community. Shops are open on Sunday when most other parts of Paris are closed. On rue St. Crois de la Bretonnerie is the gay bookstore ‘Les Mots a la Bouche, and a nice salon for tea is ‘Mariage Freres’, 30-32 rue du Bourg-Tibourg, which sells 450 varieties of tea.

A noticeable landmark is the Gothic Hotel Herouet and its turret built in 1528 at the corner of rue des Frances-Bourgeois and rue Vieille-du-Temple.
