BOBINO, a legendary venue since 1812 !

Bobino gets its name from a famous 19th century Italian clown and musician who created "La Braque a Bobino" in Rue du Maine, where he performed in 1812. The venue was destroyed in 1868, and the move was made to the Rue de la Gaite, a street famous for its theatres, where it came back to life in 1873 under the name "Les Folies Bobino". Initially a guinguette, in 1880, it became a cafe concert and later a music hall. At the end of the 2nd World War, Bobino became a launch pad for many stars, who triumphed on this legendary stage: Georges Brassens, Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf, Juliette Greco, and Serge Reggiani sang here, and comedians Fernandel, Coluche, Bedos, and Le Luron brought the house down.

The hall then closed in 1983, re-opening in 1991 under the name "Studio Bobino" as a concert hall and theatre. Philippe Bouvard, the latest in the line of owners, has produced many TV broadcasts and shows there, including "Les Grosses Tetes".

Now, in 2007, the building itself and the entertainment have been completely renewed. The "Theatre Bobino" is turning another page in its great history and setting out in a new era, as the "Cabaret BOBIN'O"'! Now, after a year of Herculean labours, and an investment of 15 million euros, BOBIN'O is the first Cabaret-Restaurant-Lounge-Club in Paris! The stalls in this new venue for Parisian partying hold a restaurant seating 430; every detail of the decor is superb. The artistes of the new BOBIN'O will be performing the most dazzling show on a 12-metre stage... In the mezzanine, to provide an ultra-cosy atmosphere, the architects have dreamed up the most hip lounge in Paris, with private cubicles, and a bar with a truly original design. BOBIN'O turns into a club at 23.30; the wildest cocktails have been designed, and our DJs work up an extraordinary atmosphere for an unforgettable ending to the evening!

This cabaret has been conceived and created by Gerard Louvin and a whole team of the great names in show business so that everyone can at last enjoy party time in Paris again...

GERARD LOUVIN : THE FOUNDER PERFORMER

With more than thirty years of experience in television, film, theatre and musicals, Gerard Louvin is undoubtedly, one the most popular and renowned producer in Europe.

Gerard Louvin is only twenty years old when he starts producing his first shows in the french music business. But it is only six years later that his life will change radically: Gerard Louvin meets french superstar Claude Francois who hires him as artistic director and manager of his successful record label. Gerard Louvin will then manage the careers of many artists such as Alain Chamfort.

In 1982, Gerard Louvin's passion for television leads him to create, with his friend and accomplice Daniel Moyne his own TV production company: GLEM Productions. Glem will then become one of the most innovative and successful production society with more than 50 original TV shows such as «Sacree Soiree », « Les Annees Tubes » , »Intervilles » , « Sans Aucun Doute » and « Les NRJ Music awards ».

TV stars such as Vincent Lagaff and Julien Courbet made their TV debuts with Glem, and faithful friend and famous host Jean-Pierre Foucault has worked with Gerard Louvin for more than 18 years.

After being Artistic advisor for M.Etienne Mougeotte, and then director of TF1 Entertainments, Gerard Louvin sold GLEM to TF1 in 2003.

Gerard Louvin's interest for the media is not limited to television. For seven years he was owner of Voltage FM radio and is now owner of M.FM radio, and co-owner of the Theatre Fontaine with Michelle Laroque.

Over the past 25 years, Gerard Louvin has produced over 50 plays, musicals, stand-up comics, dance and music shows among which: Florent Pagny, Michel Leeb, Pierre Palmade, Anthony Kavanagh, the great Marcel Marceau, Dora L'Exploratrice, Staracademy on Tour, and musicals such as Michel Legrand and Jacques Demy's « Les Demoiselles De Rochefort », Daniel Moyne's « Belle Bele Belle » and the successful Gerard Presgurvic's « Romeo and Juliette » directed by Rehda in 2001 which is still touring all over Europe and Asia. Among the many movies he has also financed and produced, some were shown and honored at the prestigious Cannes Festival.

Gerard Louvin most recent artistic "coup de coeur" goes to the world renowned « Ballets Bejart » which he has been producing in France for the past two years.

In order to find and help young artists all over Europe, he has created, with his partner Jean-Philippe Cartier, « EtoileCasting.com », an innovative and very successful web site dedicated to castings.
