The name is known in every language, and its sparkling appearance appeals to every palate. From Tokyo to New York, from London to Singapore, spirits and eyes alike light up at the very mention of this, the King of Wines: the Champagne.
To the north, the Montagne de Reims, the Marne Valley and the Cote des Blancs, to the south, the Cote des Bar. Champagne vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see over the rolling hillsides, dotted with picturesque villages that echo to the rhythm of the work in the vineyards. Every day, there are many who come here and take one of the small chalk tracks that wind through this countryside: according to the season, they look carefully at the branches, at the leaves or at the buds. Many of these vineyards are located along the "Route Touristic de Champagne", the Champagne Tourist Route.
But it is not only champagne that delights the palate. A region of tradition, Champagne-Ardenne has, over the centuries, developed a local gastronomy whose most outstanding specialities proudly carry the name of the place where they originated: Jambon des Ardennes (Ardenne ham), Boudin Blanc de Rethel (white pudding), Pieds de Porc a la Sainte-Menehould (pig's trotters), Andouillettes de Troyes (small pork tripe sausages), Truffes de Haute-Marne (truffles), cheeses from Langres, Chaource and Rocroi, Biscuit rose (pink biscuit) from Reims

Staying overnight? Why not consider a balloon flight over the vineyards. Limited time to visit? How about a helicopter flight back to Paris.
Champagne and History
Enjoy Champagne and its beautiful countryside, warm fireplaces, canopied beds, and bicycling, croquet, or boating. Built at the beginning of the 17th century by the Counts of Anglure, the Chateau was a staging post for French monarchs whilst on progress to their eastern dominions. Louis XIV, the Sun King, was astonished by the sparkling fountains you will see in the miniature lakes in the grounds of the Chateau. Louis XVI stayed during his flight to Varennes in 1791.
Art of Sabrage
