Provencal Cooking School

Welcome to our Provencal cooking school and Bed and Breakfast. We're now into our 8th year offering Provencal Cuisine workshops in our home inside the Roman walls of Arles.

Together wth Erick Vedelwe'll begin your French Provincial cooking experience with a visit to the outdoor market of Arles, the largest in France with over 1300 merchants. Every morning before your evening cooking class, we'll visit local artisans such as the chocolate maker, or the potter, go wine-tasting at local wineries and learn from the men and women who have wine in their veins. The list of artisans and possible visits keeps growing so we've put articles here to introduce you to them.

Chateau de Matel

Learning at school was never like this.  L'Ecole des Trois Ponts in Roanne offers guests the chance to perfect their French language skills in style.  The quickest and most effective way to learn French is to go to France and speak nothing else.  Living and studying in the chateau with meals taken with the household,  teachers and other guests with time to visit the attractions of the region and try their skill on the locals, guests advance quickly.

With a capacity of 20 guests, the school specialises in teaching French and Cooking in a relaxed atmosphere with professional teaching.  Accommodation and meals are provided on site at the chateau.  Lunch is buffet style, while dinner is taken together.

Country Cooking in Provence

You'll visit the local markets, meet the people, have an opportunity to visit olive oil "moulins" and wineries. You'll learn the secrets of creating a flagrant bouillabaisse, and aioli - that incomparable golden pomade. You'll see the freshest fish of the Mediterranean, grilled and flamed with fennel. You'll enjoy the simplicity of Provencal soup "au Pistou".

By the end of the week you'll have learned not only a couple dozen recipes, but a whole new way of living and eating. You'll go home with your own cookbook, personalized with photographs of you and your friends cooking and traveling with Philippe and Marie-Pierre.
