Bercy
A little further east is the Palais Omnisports, sports stadium
and concert venue, and Bercy, Cour St. Emilion, a new complex with
shops, bars and restaurants built on the site of warehouses where
the wine shipped up the Seine by barge was stored. There is also
a great new 18 cinema complex, many showing films in V.O. (Version
Original). All showings before 12:00 AM only 4.90 Euros. Fast access
to the center of Paris on the new Madeleine-Bibliotheque Francois
Mitterrand metro Line #14.
Bibliotheque Nationale de France
The Bibliotheque Nationale de France Francois Mitterrand, on the
embankment of the Seine is housed in an impressive glass building,
with its four massive "bookends" surrounding a central
garden. There is the new fast metro line #14 from here to Madeleine
in the center of Paris.
Chinatown
Chinatown leads from the centre of the arrondissement, Place dItalie,
along avenues de Choisy and d'Ivry. There are many Chinese restaurants
as well as shops selling Asian goods and Asian supermarkets, such
as Tang Freres on ave. d' Ivry, Europes largest Asian produce
market. In January/February, the nearest weekend to the actual date,
the colorful celebrations for Chinese New Year are held on these two
avenues.
