de l' Homme The Museum of Man - is one of the world's
most important museums devoted to anthropology, ethnology, and
prehistory. Its collections are arranged generally according to
geographical region, and include the Inca mummy (in fetal position)
which inspired Edvard Munch's painting The Screem. The museum's
restaurant, ëTotemí offers a superb view of the Eiffel Tower.
Musee de l'Art Moderne de la ville de Paris
Housed in the Palais de Tokyo - Mainly devoted to artists working
in Paris in the early 20th century, the museum has major collections
of works by Georges Rouault, Robert and Sonia Delaunay, Raoul
Dufy. Other highlights: Modigliani's 'La Femme aux yeus bleus',
two of the three Henri Matisse triptychs of La Danse (1931-33)
and the monumental La Fee Electricit'(1937) by Raoul Dufy. There
are often major exhibitions held here, and there is a nice caf'downstairs.

Etats-Unis, 75016 Paris, metro: Boissiere.,Well worth a visit.
Musee Marmottan Has an impressive collection of Monet
paintings bequeathed by his son, Michel. Included is the painting
'Impression Soleil Levant' which gave the impressionist movement
its name. In the basement is a special room displaying a stunning
series of Water Lily paintings.

Musee Henri Bouchard - Workshop of sculptor of the Palais
de Chaillot's Apollo, Henri Bouchard. Foundation Le Corbusier

Musee Dapper - Primitive and pre-colonial African art.
Temporary exhibitions. Mansion house built by Charles Plumet at
the beginning of the century.
Musee dEnnery - Remarkable collection of objects
illustrating daily life, beliefs in China and Japan from the twelfth
century to the nineteenth century. Presentation of the collections
in a sumptuous second Empire setting.
Foundation Le Corbusier - Built by Le Corbusier in 1923,
it is representative of 1920s architecture. It houses the largest
collection of Le Corbusier drawings, studies and plans. |
