Monet's Cathederal

Painted by Claude Monet between 1892 and 1894 was a series of 18 canvases showing the facade of the Gothic Rouen Cathedral under different conditions of light and climate at dawn, at dusk, in the evening, in full sun. The result is magnificent: in colours shifting from shades of blue to orange, sometimes verging on grey, Monet offers us a fascinating series of views of Rouen cathedral. Visit the cathederal on the tour.

Joan of Arc was declared a heretic in Rouen in May 1431, she was burnt at the stake on Rouen's Place du Vieux-Marche where today stands this church.
