Gourmet Adventures on the Pullman Orient Express

Background Information:

Join the Legend

The Pullman Orient Express is one of the few trains still operating today much as it did over a hundred years ago.

In a wonderful combination of travel, luxury and the art of fine living, it has succeeded in preserving its authenticity: in the carriages classified as "Historic Monuments", which have been completely renovated, the train features the on-board gourmet cuisine that was once its hallmark, with superb recipes devised by Lenotre in keeping with meals in times past, served from silver dishes by a staff dressed in uniforms recreated from the period.

You may find yourself travelling in the seat once occupied by Greta Garbo or Theodore Roosevelt.

Today's Pullman Orient Express is made up of 7 carriages built at the end of the 1920s, some of which have been classified as "Historic Monuments".

The carriages come from prestigious luxury express trains that were once the pride of Western and Eastern European railways: Taurus, Anatolie, Riviera Express, Cote d'Azur Pullman Express, Train Bleu, Fleche d'or, Etoile du nord

Imagine
René Prou, Paul Nelson, René Lalique… renowned artists commissioned during the 1920s and 1930s to come up with a unique décor for each carriage. A new travel concept came into being, featuring luxury, refinement, aesthetics and perfection. A travel concept that would attract the greatest names in the world of the arts, politics, finance…

Gourmet Dining

Once the Pullman Orient Express was restored to its former luxury and ready for a new lease on life, the cuisine on board also had to reflect this new beginning. Lenotre, expert in the art of receiving guests and heir to the grand French culinary tradition, was ideal candidate to take up the challenge.

It was no small feat: first, it meant finding the actual recipes served aboard this mythical train, then testing and perfecting them to recover the basic flavours. As an ambassador for a culture of good taste and a luxury label, Lenotre took up the challenge with passion and the highest standards to ensure that gastronomy aboard the Pullman Orient Express would be part of this unique experience.

Midway between nostalgia and modernity, each journey offers another is a gourmet opportunity to taste marvellous, long-forgotten recipes accompanied by the finest vintage wines

A moment of pure pleasure

Sitting comfortably aboard the Pullman Orient Express, the pleasure of fine dining turns into a rare moment of delight, enhanced by the table service reproduced from the original china, crystal glasses and silverware, and silver serving dishes carried by the staff dressed in uniforms modelled on those of the period.
