Whats:

In addition to the usual programmes, on weekends you can wander around the groves and pools where the magnificent display of fountains reveals the skill and artistry of three centuries of French garden design and engineering.
The display is accompanied by music from one of the famous composers from the court of Louis XIV.

On the way, introduction to the life and work of Claude
Monet. Guided visit of the Gardens and house of Monet. Coffee

We leave from Paris and take the "Route
du Champagne" that crosses the little villages where
the small champagne producers live and work. We will see
a few very "special" spots before arriving to
Epernay where we stop for our first visit and champagne
tasting at Moet et Chandon.
After Moet direction Hautvilliers to pay a tribute to Dom
Perignon, stroll through the village, visit the chapel
where he is buried and have a second tasting at a small
local producer. Then onto Reims for lunch in a very nice
local restaurant.
After lunch visit of the spectacular gothic cathedral of
Reims where the kings of France were crowned , before having
a last visit and tasting at Veuve Cliquot or Pommery (according
to timing and availability).

Drive through Normandy to Mont-Saint-Michel. Surrounded by dangerous moving sands, linked to the mainland by a dike, this "Marvel of the Occident" is unique in the world. After the "brunch" at the Carrouges Castle, guided visit of the Abbey built on a rocky islet, and which was principally a major cultural and pilgrimage centre during the middle ages. Half-way on the highway we will make a stop for coffee (and breakfast if needed) After passing Caen, direction Arromanches to visit the remains of the artificial harbour (that the Allies built in England and towed to France). In Arromanches we will watch a documentary, "the Price of Freedom", at a 360 degree movie theater. then on to Longues sur Mer to see the canons and bunkers of Longues ( the only coastal batteries that are still in the same spot where they were when the fired on the Allies on D Day) Drive to Port en Bessin (the Petrol Harbour where one of the pipelines of the Allies came out) for a very nice lunch in a local restaurant.
After lunch visit of the American Cemetery at Colleville (emotional moment) , then drive to Omaha beach to see the remains of the German bunkers (that will give you a very realistic vision of the difficulties of the American soldiers that landed there). To finish the tour, visit of the Pointe du Hoc (the biggest feat of arms of the Americans on DDay), visually without doubt the most impressive spot of the Landing Beaches. Drive back to Paris (arrival around 19h30)

After a hour's drive on the highway, take a religious journey to visit the Chartres Cathedral, the archetype of Gothic Architecture, a classified Unesco Heritage monument with its amazing blue stained glass windows, the crypt, the labyrinth and the famous towers. Your driver guide will initiate you in the fine art of reading Biblical stories depicted in stained glass and point out the details that make Chartres the textbook example of High Gothic Architecture , a sermon in glass and stone. After the visit of the cathedral, the guide will take you to a walk through the old town, draped on the side of a hill leading down to the river where you will make a stop for coffee (or tea) with a very nice local pastry. (Possible visit of the Maison Picassiette, built in mosaic out of everyday objects, a great example of Naive Art)

At 4pm your private licensed driver-guide will pick you up and drive you to the château of Vaux le Vicomte (1hr). After a walking tour in the magnificent gardens, model for the gardens of Versailles, and a guided visit of the château, you will leave Vaux le Vicomte and have a romantic dinner in a gastronomic restaurant in Pouilly le Fort, a village nearby.
After dinner your guide will bring you back to the gardens of Vaux le Vicomte that are now illuminated by 2000 candles. You will spend unforgettable moments enjoying this magic sight and ambiance, strolling through the gardens or just sitting in one of the comfortable chairs listening to music and drinking champagne .
Around 11h30pm your guide will drive you back to Paris where you should arrive at 1am at the latest.
